Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a day for family reunion - sons and daughters go out
of their way to meet or speak to their mothers and let them know they are
appreciated.
In modern times many people live a significant distance from their
parents and mother's day is a welcome excuse to get in touch.
Ironically, back in the 17th century, the modern idea of mothers day was born out of
reunions of family that lived apart and rarely had the opportunity to
get together (see Mothering Sunday History).
The holiday seems to have come full circle and is again a day
for reunion with ones family.
